recent road and trail conditions


​Cape Horn:  As of February 2023, the lower portion of the trail is closed for seasonal bird nesting.  Thus you cannot complete the entire loop.  The lower portion of the trail will open again July 15, 2023.  

Falls Creek Falls:  As of January 2023, Road 3062 is gated to the trailhead.  Scheduled to be opened again April 2023.  Can still park just off Wind River Rd. and make the 2 mile roadwalk to the traditional starting point.  

Mt. St. Helens west: As of January 2023, highway 504 is closed to Johnston Ridge Observatory.  Starting point for Coldwater Peak/Harry's Ridge and Mt. Margaret.

Mt. St. Helens east:  As of January 2023, Road 99 is closed to Windy Ridge.  The hikes include Mt. Margaret, Whittier Ridge/Lakes loop, and Plains of Abraham (Windy Ridge trailhead).  

Mt. St. Helens south:  As of January 2023, Road 83 is closed at the snopark.  Hikes include Ape Canyon and June Lake trailheads.

Mt. Adams west:  As of January 2023, Road 23 is closed.  Hikes include Crystal Lake and Avalanche Valley.
