weather forecast for this area
This is a partial loop hike to Falls Creek Falls north of Carson and near the Wind River.
The walk to the falls has a unique suspension bridge to cross, following along the creek's many twists and gullies. The memories are in the falls, though, and reaching the end of trail #152A puts you face-to-face with the powerful lower two tiers. Some careful scrambling can be done for different perspectives of these drops.
The return loop is a short backtrack, going downstream, then uphill and back upstream, to view the upper tier of falls and across the valley. Making this effort pulls in more of an experience, rather than just going point A to point B and back. However, sticking to only an out-and-back trip is about 3 miles total, which makes for a good family outing distance.
The descent back is down a modest grade along the creek.
Can be done year-round, but check the USFS website to ensure the gate to the trailhead is open during winter months (typically closed Dec. - March). Falls are at their best during the spring.
